Melissa Waldo, LCSW

Melissa Waldo, LCSW, is a bilingual licensed Psychotherapist and the Vice President of Behavioral Health at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers. In 2003, Waldo received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. She received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.  

 

Waldo joined Sixteenth Street Health Community Centers in June of 2008 and worked for five years as a masters level social worker before joining the Behavioral Health Department as a psychotherapist in 2013.  As a psychotherapist, Waldo started a successful emotional treatment group for teenage girls, called SEEDS, that has been featured on Vice News and local news stations to highlight the high rates of mental health disorders in Latina youth and the positive impact that this group has had to treat depression and anxiety.  Additionally, Waldo is a trained EMDR trauma therapist and has worked extensively to provide mental health care to the transgender community.   

 

Waldo served on the Milwaukee Latino Health Coalition from 2010 to 2021 and while serving as the Behavioral Health Clinical Director at Sixteenth Street, in 2020, she joined the steering committee of the Wisconsin Collaborative for Health Care Quality and continues to serve.  Waldo has been an active preceptor to University of Wisconsin TRIUMPH medical students for the past decade.
