Arturo Gonzalez-Villarreal, DNP
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Arturo Gonzalez-Villarreal is a pediatric nurse practitioner who is passionate about caring for children and supporting families through every stage of their health journey. Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Arturo moved to Milwaukee at the age of 11 and was a patient at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers as a child, an experience that came full circle and inspired his path into healthcare and service to the community. He attended Riverside University High School before earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and later completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Marquette University.
Arturo brings over seven years of experience in pediatric care, having started his nursing career at Children’s Wisconsin in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with a focus in Oncology. He later transitioned to the Level 1 Trauma/Surgical/Transplant ICU, where he has cared for some of the most critically ill children in the state. These experiences shaped his approach to care: grounded in clinical excellence, empathy, and the understanding that every child’s story is bigger than their diagnosis. He is board-certified in pediatric primary care and holds additional certifications in acute care and critical care. He also serves as adjunct faculty at Marquette University, where he teaches pediatric critical care to future nurses.
Fluent in Spanish, Arturo values building genuine connections with patients and families from diverse backgrounds. He believes in creating a welcoming, supportive environment where families feel heard, respected, and involved in their child’s care. Outside of the clinic, Arturo enjoys running, biking, traveling, reading, and spending time cooking with family and friends.
