Women, Infants, & Children (WIC)

Sixteenth Street offers supportive nutrition services to patients and community members free of cost. Our goal is to empower parents and caregivers and give them the tools and resources they need to ensure the healthiest start possible for their children.

Sixteenth Street is home to the most highly utilized Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) program location in the state of Wisconsin. Located in the lower level of our main 16th St. location, WIC provides healthy supplemental foods, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for other community and medicinal resources to qualifying pregnant and post-partum women and children up to age five. Our WIC site also offers:

  • Breastfeeding Peer Counseling — mom-to-mom support available outside of WIC office hours
  • Farmers Market Nutrition Program — access to fresh, locally grown produce from June through October
  • Appointment accessibility — we offer both remote and in-person appointments, as well as availability outside of standard work/school hours

WIC Works! Participation in WIC is associated with positive health outcomes like reduced risk of pre-term birth or low birth weight and decreased risk of iron deficiency anemia.
