You are invited to the Department of Environmental Health annual KK River Spring Clean Up, taking place this Saturday, April 18th from 9am to 12noon at Cleveland/Modjewerski Playfield, on Cleveland Ave. between 10th and 11th Streets.
This year’s Clean Up is a really special one! In addition to cleaning the neighborhood surrounding the river, the second half of the event will feature some fun river activities. A limnologist from UW-Madison, who has been researching the KK River, is going to be dyeing the river red for science! All are invited to wade in the river with the scientist and his team, learn about the KK and join us for FREE lunch to watch as the river turns RED!
In addition, it is our partner Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s 20th anniversary and they are helping us host the “official” Kinnickinnic River clean up after party. This means about 100 other volunteers who helped clean up the KK River in 5 different neighborhoods (Jackson Park, Holler Park, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Lyons Park, Baran Park) will be joining us to watch the river dyeing and eat some treats!
The event schedule is:
