Pregnancy Services

At Sixteenth Street we offer a variety of services for pregnant women and their families during pregnancy, birth, and after.

Midwifery & Primary Care Physicians

Our 9 Certified Nurse Midwives and 9 Family Practice Physicians assist women during childbirth, provide prenatal care for pregnant women, birth education for women and their partners, and care for mothers and newborn babies after the birth.  We delivered over 700 babies in the last year with only 13% of the deliveries done by Cesarean.  Our midwives are nationally recognized by American College of Nurse-Midwives for their excellent outcomes

Centering Pregnancy

An innovative group model of prenatal care that combines education, support, and health care assessment facilitated by a credentialed midwife and their medical assistants. Instead of having the traditional 15 minute appointment slot with the provider, each woman has two hours with the provider in a group setting. Certified by the Centering Health Care Institute we offer this model of care to all of our prenatal patients and have been overwhelmed by its success for our patients.

Pre Natal Care Coordination (PNCC)

The objective of  the PNCC program is to perform early pregnancy tests and provide continuous prenatal care services ranging from psycho social support to health and nutrition education. All women also receive assistance in accessing and obtaining additionally needed services and are referred to available community services when appropriate. Run through our Women’s Wellness Department.

Access to Resources

The Stork’s Nest is an incentive program through our Parenting Resource Center designed to promote prenatal care participation and healthy behaviors during pregnancy through two components – incentives and education. Stork’s Nest clients “earn” points toward incentives, such as maternity or baby care items, through a variety of positive, health-promoting activities: attending prenatal care appointments, participating in prenatal and parent education classes, keeping appointments for well-baby visits, etc. The Stork’s Nest prenatal and parent education sessions provide information, educational materials, and a variety of other resources and referrals that help clients take good care of themselves and their babies.

PreNatal Excercise Classes

Low impact Zumba and stretching classes are offered at our Chavez location to all prenatal patients.  Class are free of charge and only available to patients.  Little ones are welcome to join or can be left in our Parenting Resource Center for supervised, developmentally focused play time.
