Julie Schuller, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP
President and CEO

Julie B. Schuller, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP is President and CEO at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers.  A Milwaukee native, Dr. Schuller obtained a Bachelor’s Degree at Notre Dame, a Medical Degree and Master’s Degree in Public Health at Northwestern University Medical School, and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Doctor Schuller joined Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers in 1995 and has built her career there.  She is passionate about the provision of quality health care for people living in poverty and underserved patient populations.

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers serves nearly 40,000 patients in the Milwaukee community at five locations, including two on the south side of Milwaukee, one in downtown Waukesha, one within the United Community Center’s Senior Center, and a school-based clinic within St. Anthony’s K-12 School.  Sixteenth Street Clinic places a strong focus on the provision of quality, integrated medical and mental health care.  This care is enhanced by an array of supportive services including social services, case management, health education and community health initiatives. Outreach into surrounding communities demonstrates Sixteenth Street’s commitment to population health, through such activities as addressing lead toxicity in the neighborhoods and clean-up of local rivers and parks.

Dr. Schuller plays a leadership role in several organizations devoted to excellence in provision of services to medically underserved and vulnerable populations.  She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Collaborative on Healthcare Quality, the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association, the Wisconsin Medical Society, and the Quality Committee of the Aurora Board of Directors.  She actively participates in several committees of the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership.  She is the Past-President of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County. Nationally she serves on the Clinical Committees of the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Maria Perez, PhD
Licensed Psychologist
VP of Behavioral Health

Maria Elena Perez is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Behavioral Health at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers on Milwaukee’s south side. She attended Northern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1988. She later attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for her Masters degree in Educational Psychology and then practiced in mental health in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Psychology at Marquette University in 2007 while helping to develop the behavioral health department at Sixteenth Street. Additionally, she has been an adjunct professor at Marquette University and has taught psychology courses at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College and Lakeland University. She also performs psychological evaluations for the Latino Community and is appointed on the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board. Maria is published in the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences and the Journal of Counseling Psychology and has offered many presentations on a variety of topics in mental health.

Maria Elena is daughter to Enrique and Teresa Perez, her parents who emigrated from Cuba in 1962. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Wisconsin in 1988. She is a mother of four children and one grandchild, and currently resides in Waukesha. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking and gardening.
